Tips Prepare English for SBI Clerk 2020 Prelims Exam

State Bank of India has given good news to the bank job aspirants with its official notification for SBI CLERK EXAM 2020. Bank exams are difficult as compared to other public sector undertaking exams. Simply covering the entire syllabus will not serve the purpose; one has to prepare thoroughly for each and every topic. For the last few years, SBI CLERK and other bank exams have seen some drastic changes in the exam pattern, especially in the English language section.   

SBI CLERK 2020 prelims will be held in the month of Feb-March 2020 tentatively, time is very less for the exam preparation. Sectional timings and sectional cut-off has given a big challenge to the aspirants of SBI CLERK EXAM. Aspirants need to prepare thoroughly for all the sections but the main focus will be on the English section. Let us discuss some significant tips to acquire language proficiency to beat the competition with courage and passion.

English section comprises of various questions such as fill in the blanks, cloze test, sentence improvement, spotting error, para jumbles, and reading comprehension.  One should always start with easier topics like Fill in the blanks, Cloze Test, Sentence Improvement, Spotting Error and Para jumbles, as they are easier to score. Thereafter, one should solve reading comprehension as it is a time-consuming section.

Topic-wise study strategy for the English section of SBI Clerk 2020

1. Fill in the blanks/Double Fillers
 Before attempting these questions, read the statements carefully and then select a suitable word from the given choices. It is better if you choose the method of elimination simultaneously to verify which options will go with the best. You can also use the “Odd-one-out” strategy to get an accurate answer.

2. Cloze Test
In the given passage, all the sentences are reasonably related to each other and this inter-relationship will give you a suitable word for the blank space. The students can eliminate the doubtful options and can try to find a reason for the relationship between all the provided options.

3. Para Jumbles
 In the given passage, the students should try to understand the basic thought to help them arrange sentences quickly. The students should try to identify the reasonable connections between the sentences. A good understanding of options analysis will help them to find an accurate answer from the given options. The students should always try to find the first sentence quickly to give them a linear direction to the given content. Similarly, they can guess the concluding sentence to get the correct linear connecting idea. The sentences which denote time, name, place are normally considered to be the most feasible opening lines. 
  
 4. Sentence Correction
To begin with, students should read the original sentence watchfully and then try to mark the grammatical errors by looking at every given choice. After finding the error, students are supposed to eliminate all the choices containing errors.

5. Spotting Error
While reading the sentence watchfully, students will be able to identify the error easily. Thereafter, the students should also check the subject-verb agreement. If still, they cannot detect the error, then they must read each individual part of the sentence carefully and closely examine which part of the sentence has an error. 

6. Reading Comprehension
First of all students should attempt questions based on Antonyms and Synonyms by noticing the usage of the word in the sentence. Then, they should read the paragraph quickly to identify with the theme. It will help them in answering the questions. The students should not assume any answer or use any outside knowledge in answering the question as the answer lies within the paragraph. Thereafter, they should not waste too much time in solving complicated questions.
